From SEO point of view, any extensions goes. But for type in traffic, and mass branding, dot com is the only viable choice. I, however, like dot tel and have blogged extensively about it...

A dot com really the best choice but it's costly if I'm not mistaken. How about the domain name(not extension)?

It is quite difficult to find a good .COM domain name especially for those competitive and high paying niches. What I can suggest is consider other Third Level Domain (TLD) names like .BIZ which can be a good alternative for .COM .

Thanks for your suggestion. how about a .NET domain extension?

The .NET TLD is commonly used in lieu of .COM . Another suggestion is to use country based TLD (cTLDs). In most cases, cTLDs are not yet saturated. The only drawback is that the rate is higher than the normal domain name rate.

TLD means third level domain name like .COM, .NET, .INFO, .Biz, etc. cTLD means country third level domain name like mydomain.us, yourdomain.sg, etc.

Don't buy domain names with numbers in it. Also, it's pretty bad if you use symbols like these : / - etc.

A domain name is should be as short as possible. That makes it easy to remember. As a rule, a good domain name has under 15 characters.Secondly your domain name is easy to spell.

Well if you are thinking it in a broader perspective then dotcom is the best option...from SEO point of view you can go with any of the extensions.....
