One critical mistake is failure to generate traffic. If your site does not have a good traffic, it does not have any significant value.

The thing is you can always clone your profitable site. Improve it by using a different domain name, make a little variation on the design and content and some more changes. Now you a continuing business.

many people are upto the process of so many domains and sites nd collect small amount of profit from every side to make it huge one , same is the case for site flipping but people commit certain mistakes and this leads to the failure of this business

Well, traffic is generally needed if you have a website. Does PR also have some kind of value?

There is a correlation between traffic and high PR. If you have a good PR, it is most likely that you have a good traffic. But still content is king as SEO's saying goes. Search engines will ultimately find your site given some proactive ways of generating traffic.

Yes, I agree too that traffic is main criterious of the site. Moreover, PR is also important, because site's value is getting up if most of the visitors are from search engines.

I have a site which was ranked as PR2 till last month but recently when i checked, it has reached to PR1. Why does this happen? Can't we retain the pr as it is?

I am not sure about it but I think if you don't update your site regularly and not same traffic as when it got the higher ranking then it degrade, was it the cas for you?

Its very important to update your website constantly and you should also add valueable content + the most important thing is to maintain a steady traffic all the time.

According to me the mistake committed by website flippers are
1) They dont assess the value of their websites as well as the ones they are eyeing on.
2) They dont concentrate their energies on refurbishing and modernizing their website.

I think regular traffic is one of the major cause of degrading in page ranking.
You should maintain the traffic once u increase it.
